CONVERSATIONAL TAGALOG CLASSES  (FALL 2015)


Basic Conversational Tagalog Class
8-week session
September 23-November 25
Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30 PM
The Basic Conversational Class at the Bayanihan Community Center emphasizes practical phrases and grammatical strategies that will get you speaking confidently within days. The class will cover greetings and introductions, description of people and places, stating preferences or non-preferences, counting, shopping, telling time and basic usage of verbs. By the end of the class, students should be able to formulate sentences, 
have a working vocabulary of about 100-600 words, 
and be able to carry on a basic conversation.


Continuing Basic Conversational
Tagalog Class I
8-week session
September 21-November 23
Mondays, 6:00-7:30 PM
The Continuing Basic Conversational Class allows you to review, practice, and further build on the lessons from the previous basic session. This is also perfect for those with experience but need a refresher course. Special attention on grammar will be addressed. Prospective students will be assessed to make sure that their Filipino conversational skills, grammatical knowledge and application will qualify for this more advanced session.

8 Mondays, 6:15-7:45 PM
optional 5 Wednesdays 8-9 PM, starting in mid-August (for those who want more intensive practice)

The beginner conversational class at the Bayanihan Community Center emphasizes practical phrases and grammatical strategies that will get you speaking confidently within days. The class will cover greetings and introductions, description of people and places, stating preferences or non-preferences, counting, shopping, telling time and basic usage of verbs. By the end of the class, students would be able to formulate sentences, have a working vocabulary of about 100-600 words, and be able to carry on a basic conversation.

* Because of your feedback, we've now added an additional day for those who can and want to meet more than once a week to practice-- please use the intensive option if you want to attend both Monday and Wednesday classes ! We'll do intensive if there's enough interest.

Advanced Beginner Conversational Tagalog
8-week session,  July 16-August 27, 2014  
8 Wednesdays, 6:15-7:45 PM
optional 5 Wednesdays 8-9 PM, starting in mid-August (for those who want more intensive practice) 

This Advanced Beginner class allows you to practice and review, as well as build on the lessons from the Beginner session. Also perfect for those with a lot of previous knowledge but needs a refresher course. I call and assess all prospective students to make sure that their level is a good fit for this class. You can also send me an email with your questions/concerns.

* Because of your feedback, we've now added an additional day for those who can and want to meet more than once a week to practice-- please use the intensive option if you want to attend both the additional Wednesday intensive classes !

BEGINNER CONVERSATIONAL TAGALOG : New Saturday classes in San Jose in July-August 2012

Hello everyone !


Thank you ALL for your patience. I've been working on a Tagalog verb book and teaching Tagalog privately (as well as doing translation !), but I do intend to continue with the Tagalog group classes.


I will be teaching Saturday afternoon classes (complete beginner conversational) from July-August starting on July 30th in San Jose. Classes will begin as soon as a minimum of 4 sign-up. It can last anywhere from 4-6 weeks.


update : because of enough sign-ups : start date will be on July 7, 2012, Saturday

Please note : These classes are smaller and will be geared towards absolute beginning Tagalog learners.

4 Saturdays, July-August 2012 
12-3 PM PM, cost : $24 / class (+ one time $ 5 material fee)
