CONVERSATIONAL TAGALOG CLASSES  (FALL 2015)


Basic Conversational Tagalog Class
8-week session
September 23-November 25
Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30 PM
The Basic Conversational Class at the Bayanihan Community Center emphasizes practical phrases and grammatical strategies that will get you speaking confidently within days. The class will cover greetings and introductions, description of people and places, stating preferences or non-preferences, counting, shopping, telling time and basic usage of verbs. By the end of the class, students should be able to formulate sentences, 
have a working vocabulary of about 100-600 words, 
and be able to carry on a basic conversation.


Continuing Basic Conversational
Tagalog Class I
8-week session
September 21-November 23
Mondays, 6:00-7:30 PM
The Continuing Basic Conversational Class allows you to review, practice, and further build on the lessons from the previous basic session. This is also perfect for those with experience but need a refresher course. Special attention on grammar will be addressed. Prospective students will be assessed to make sure that their Filipino conversational skills, grammatical knowledge and application will qualify for this more advanced session.

Tagalog for Beginners by Joi Barrios
Basic Tagalog by Paraluman Aspillera
Tagalog-English Dictionary by Leo English 
English-Tagalog Dictionary by Leo English 

*Books may be available at the Arkipelago Bookstore, located in the same building on 6th and Mission, SF.  These books are also available online and in most public libraries.
